New Counselor Accession Program This program is designed to provide a one-year, entry-level work/training opportunity for recent human services graduates with an interest in and superior potential for becoming counselors in one of the Commission’s programs. Applicants must have a minumum grade point average of 3.0 to be considered. This is a fixed-term, full-time position leading to a permanent position. Selectees are employed for a fixed period of time (not to exceed 52 weeks) and scheduled to work 40 hours per week. Starting pay is currently $26,863 annually for applicants with a bachelor’s degree. Applicants with a master’s degree will start at $28,743. Position includes generous benefits. Upon successful completion of the 52-week work/training experience, individuals are offered a full-time salaried position in one of the Commission’s programs at $30,604 annually. Program participants are under the administrative supervision of the Commission's Deputy Director, who will manage the work/training program, make work schedule assignments and provide performance reviews after weeks 16, 32 and 48. Career Transition Accession Program This program is designed to provide a career-transitional work/training opportunity for individuals with an interest in and superior potential for becoming counselors in one of the Commission’s programs. Applicants may have a human services degree but lack the qualifying experience working in a related field, or applicants may be working in a related field but have a degree in something other than human services. The program is designed to provide basic and continuing education to enhance the counseling skills of employees to serve adolescents and families in residential group home, diversion, and various non-residential settings. This is a temporary, full-time position leading to a permanent position. Selectees are employed for a period of time (not to exceed 52 weeks) and are scheduled to work 40 hours per week. The length of the temporary employment will be determined based upon previous related experience and successful job performance. Starting pay is currently $26,863 annually. Position includes generous benefits. Upon successful completion of the work/training experience, individuals are offered a full-time salaried position in one of the Commission’s programs at $30,854 annually.
